Yes, Iran has been at war with the US for 47 years since taking the hostages. It was only after Ronald Reagan privately threatened them with severe consequences that they were released at the time of his inauguration.

That being said, there’s an entire other component here: Oil. Specifically, Oil for China. The US has already cut off Venezuela and the US is also an exporter of oil. The fracking technology has allowed for a resurgence of oil production.

Another part of this chess match is controlling the shipping “choke points”. The US kicked the Chinese out of the Panama Canal, are working on a deal with Morocco for Gibraltar and it is what Greenland is all about. And now basically have Hormuz in a standoff. If Iran doesn’t allow ships, either will the US, in particular, Iranian ships like the Touska. That was classic FAFO.

No, Israel was all for it, and definitely advocated, but this war is about more than that.

It’s about Nukes and Oil.

Regime change towards a more liberal and democratic government would be optimal, but, truly, that needs to come from the Iranian people.

Avi, can you share some light, any light, on what’s going on in Iran? Any rumblings of an organized opposition?

Of course not. It went to war so Donald Trump would be remembered for something else besides being Donald Trump.
